The California Community Colleges Scholarship Endowment was launched in May 2008 as part of the Osher Initiative for California Community College Students, which represents the single largest gift to a community college system in the nation and one of the largest gifts ever made to higher education. Since the launch of this unprecedented effort, colleges throughout the state have risen to the challenge of creating a $100 million endowment that will provide permanent scholarship support California's 2.9 million Community College students.
