We support several innovative solutions that break down barriers and help clarify the path from entry to a brighter future for students.

Active Learning in Undergraduate STEM Education
Understanding the benefits of active learning strategies.Hispanic students enter science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) professions at lower rates than their non-Hispanic counterparts, and evidence suggests that more awareness and engagement in STEM fields in school can help diversify the profession. Active Learning in Undergraduate STEM Education works with support from the National Science Foundation in the form of an Early Concept Grant for Exploratory Research to measure the impact of implementing active-learning strategies in STEM courses and on professional development for STEM faculty members.

Developing Technical Assistance Providers to support the diverse needs of California’s expanded learning programs.ASAPconnect works to advance excellence throughout our state’s expanded learning programs (before school, after school, and summer learning) by supporting and developing comprehensive, coordinated, and exceptional technical assistance providers. Working in alignment with the strategic plan of California Department of Education Expanded Learning Division, the organization’s mission is to provide stakeholders with multiple levels of support to enable them to deliver high quality expanded learning programs and create safe and nurturing environments for both students and staff. ASAPconnect is fiscally sponsored by FoundationCCC.

California Acceleration Project
Faculty supporting student centered policy and practice.Fiscally sponsored by FoundationCCC, the California Acceleration Project (CAP) is a faculty-led professional development network that supports California Community Colleges efforts to transform remedial education with the goal of achieving strong and equitable student outcomes. CAP has helped colleges statewide implement strategies to increase the number of students who complete college-level English and math requirements, a critical early milestone on the path to degrees and transfer.

California AfterSchool Network
Making a difference in the health and well-being of children, youth, their families, and their communities.The California AfterSchool Network (CAN) provides expanded learning practitioners, advocates, and community members with the resources and tools necessary to build high quality expanded learning programs in California. CAN is a convener of the field, able to facilitate a two-way flow of information between the expanded learning field and State and National policymakers to help influence and inform policy, and how it is translated into practice. CAN is fiscally sponsored by FoundationCCC.

California College Guidance Initiative
Data-driven tools to smooth the path from K-12 to college and career for California students.The California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) manages the State of California’s official college and career planning platform, CaliforniaColleges.edu. CCGI is partnered with over 200 school districts that serve more than 1,500,000 6th-12th grade students, or 50 percent of all 6th-12th grade students in California’s public schools. Through CaliforniaColleges.edu, CCGI provides all California students with an equitable opportunity to pursue training and education that connects their strengths, passions, and goals to well-paid and fulfilling careers. Combining data-driven tools and infrastructure with student-focused curricula and capacity building, CCGI helps close the gaps between systems and ensure that all California students, especially those who have been underrepresented in higher education, can move seamlessly from K-12 to college and career.

California Community Colleges Student Affairs Association
Advocating for student affairs and student leadership.For over 60 years, California Community College Student Affairs Association (CCCSAA) has been the professional association that focuses on networking, student and professional development, and advocating for the field of Student Affairs and Student Leadership within the California Community College system. CCCSAA, which benefits from the FoundationCCC’s management services, promotes and advances public two-year post-secondary education and brings members together for mutual benefit. CCCSAA stimulates effective working relationships in the field and strengthens professional status by establishing criteria for professional training.

California Education Learning Lab
Supporting innovation in higher education.The California Education Learning Lab supports innovation in higher education pedagogy through intersegmental grants to California’s public colleges and universities. An initiative of the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research in partnership with FoundationCCC, the Learning Lab provides grants to projects that use technology and the science of learning to improve online and hybrid learning. To enhance inclusion and effective classroom education for California’s diverse student population, projects funded by the Learning Lab promote a positive feedback loop between learning theory, research, and classroom education practice, especially in STEM fields.

California Guided Pathways Project
Creating a pathway to success.Guided Pathways is a framework for student-centered reforms that enable a dramatic increase in the number of students reaching their academic and career goals and, when implemented with fidelity, closure of equity gaps. The California Guided Pathways Project brings national and state expertise to help community colleges implement these reforms through an integrated, institution-wide approach to student success and structured educational experiences that support each student from the point of entry to attainment of high-quality postsecondary credentials and careers.

Program Pathways Mapper
Simplifying the path to degree for students.The Program Pathways Mapper (PPM) has been shown to positively impact students, high school counselors, schools and the workforce while providing a technical solution to meet the Roadmap to Success and Guided Pathways goals. PPM connects the California Community Colleges, University of California, and California State University systems so that students can view a map of intersegmental curricular pathways, easily transfer between segments, and reduce excess units taken on the path to degree or program completion.
