Nitasha Sawhney

Nitasha Sawhney, Director

Nitasha joins the Foundation with outstanding leadership experience and demonstrated support for the California Community Colleges. Currently, Nitasha is an equity partner in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles offices of Garcia Hernández Sawhney, LLP. She specializes in education, labor, and employment law. Nitasha serves as legal counsel to public school districts, community college districts, and other public institutions on matters concerning school governance and policy, labor negotiations, employment, educational foundations, public meetings, ethics laws, and strategic planning and problem-solving. 

Nitasha also serves as a board member for the Sikh Coalition, the largest Sikh civil rights organization in the country, and is active with several other national and local civil rights organizations. She frequently provides counsel on matters involving hate crimes, civic engagement, and employment discrimination.
