As the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at the Foundation, Andrea Meyer oversees the contracts and legal team, facilitates contract management and legal review, manages outside legal counsel relationships, works collaboratively with the Chancellor’s Office legal affairs department to address mutual issues, and provides effective guidance on organizational strategies, programs, services, and their implementation as it relates to general risk management, compliance, and legal liability.
In her role as Corporate Secretary, Andrea is responsible for corporate compliance, and providing guidance and advice to the CEO and the Board Chair regarding Brown Act interpretation and application.
Andrea enjoys problem solving and guiding colleagues through legal issues related to their work in furtherance of the Foundation’s mission, and being a trusted partner in the business development process, whether it be providing risk analysis during program development, contract development and negotiation, or ensuring compliance requirements are met.
Andrea earned her BA from UC Davis in 2007, and graduated from McGeorge School of Law in 2010 with a certification in Taxation. She was admitted to the California bar in 2010.
- Implemented a paperless contracts management system and electronic signature process for Foundation contracts, increasing organization-wide efficiency related to contract execution and retention.
- Developed content for Board of Directors recruitment and orientation materials.
- Provided training to managers on employee vs. independent contractor classification issues.
- Presented at the Association for Corporate Counsel 2018 Annual Meeting as part of a panel focused on implementation of records retention schedules and information governance.
