Jodi Lewis is Director of Strategic Initiatives within the Success Center for California Community Colleges, housed within the Foundation. Founded in 2014, the Success Center assists the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office implementation of large-scale, systemwide student success reforms through policy development, professional development, and special projects. Lewis currently leads initiatives focused on advancing Vision for Success: Strengthening the California Community Colleges to Meet California’s Needs goals, including the Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) Initiative. CPL helps students get credit for what they already know and do, saving them time and money on their educational paths.
Foundation Highlights:
- Leads a cross-role, cross-segment Advisory Committee to inform development of state-level policy to expand credit for prior learning within the 116 colleges
- Partners with the Chancellor’s Office to increase internal and external stakeholder awareness and buy-in of Vision for Success goals
- Provides research and strategic planning support to the Chancellor’s Office to help colleges better serve non-traditional students (age 25+)
An expert in policy focused on college and career readiness and postsecondary completion, Lewis joined the Foundation in 2018. Prior, she led strategic communications at Sacramento State’s Education Insights Center and was a researcher at the Institute for Higher Education Leadership & Policy (IHELP). Lewis also co-founded and co-directed the California Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP), in partnership with the Institute for Educational Leadership.
Lewis earned her bachelor of arts in political science and English from Mount Saint Mary’s University and her master of public policy and administration from Sacramento State, with a certificate in collaborative governance.
