The Foundation for California Community Colleges is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2019 Nursing Education Investment Grants.
Nearly $450,000 was awarded to projects that respond to priority needs in the nursing education field and facilitate, coordinate with, or complement efforts to educate and train nurses through the California Community Colleges. The awardees are College of the Redwoods - Del Norte LVN/Paramedic-RN Bridge Expansion and Riverside City College - Concurrent Enrollment Program Implementation.
College of the Redwoods will expand a registered nursing pathway into a rural region that has critical nursing shortages.
Riverside City College will implement and promote to other colleges a model of concurrent enrollment that enables nursing students at community colleges to simultaneously progress toward bachelor of science degrees in nursing from California State Universities. The program also addresses the primary barrier students face to completing a bachelor of science degrees in nursing, cost, by providing access to financial aid through California State Universities.
Each project was noted for its distinct impact and alignment with the California Community Colleges’ Vision for Success, and for their collaborative partnerships and the strength of their project plan. We look forward to working with the teams at Riverside City College and College of the Redwoods as they respond to evolving industry needs and execute these innovative ideas.
