Elmy Bermejo, a passionate government and civic leader, has over 25 years of experience in executive management, strategic planning, policy development, and advocacy. She has been an active volunteer member of FoundationCCC’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board Advisory Committee since June 2022 and was recommended for appointment to FoundationCCC’s Board in September 2022.
Bermejo has held various senior government roles, including Senior Advisor and Outreach Director for California’s first female Lt. Governor, Eleni Kounalakis, and Regional Representative for the Secretary of Labor in the Western United States during President Obama’s Administration. She has also worked with numerous elected officials, including CA State Senators John Burton and Don Perata, Congressmembers Lynn Woolsey and Mel Levine, and the late U.S. Senator Alan Cranston.
Currently, Bermejo serves as the Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in the Pacific region, overseeing programs, offices, and operations across California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada. In addition, she is the President of the San Francisco Commission on the Environment and serves on several boards and advisory councils, such as The Beneficial State Foundation, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), Emily’s List Latina Advisory Council, and EMERGE.
Elmy comes from a family of small business owners, providing her with unique insights into the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, particularly immigrants. Her extensive experience, relationship-building skills, and commitment to helping organizations succeed make her a valuable addition to FoundationCCC’s Board.
