Amber Tidwell
Amber Tidwell has worked as an English faculty member at the community college level for 12 years, teaching in locations ranging from Columbus, Georgia to Hangzhou, China, and now in California’s Central Valley. She is currently a faculty member at West Hills College, Lemoore. Throughout her career, she has engaged with a diverse group of adult learners, each at different stages of self-discovery.
Amber’s unique path of reconciling her own faith and sexuality later in life has led her to become a champion of equal rights for LGBTQ+ students. She seeks to be an advocate and a safe place for all students, especially those who are questioning or identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
While Amber has not served in any official capacities prior to this advisory committee, she has consistently attended professional development opportunities that highlight the specific injustices and needs of the LGBTQ+ community. She is passionate about transforming college campuses to be more welcoming for students within the community.
