Ángel González

Assistant Professor, Higher Education Administration and Leadership

Dr. Ángel de Jesus González (he/they/elle) is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration and Leadership at Fresno State University. As a self-identified first-generation queer, Latinx, joto, they approach scholarship through transformative paradigms rooted in Xicana/Latina feminists epistemologies. Dr. González’s research spans queer and/or trans communities, Latinx leadership, organizational change, and racial equity policy implementation in community colleges. Their foundational research has been published in leading higher education journals, and they employ critical methods like queer pláticas, testimonio, and queer phenomenology.

Dr. Gonzalez is affiliated with the Queer and Trans Latinx/a/o in HigherEd Collective, CCHALES research collective at San Diego State University, and QTPiE Research Team at the University of Vermont. Noteworthy accolades include NASPA Community College Division Research and Scholarship Award and ACPA’s Gender and Sexuality Coalition D.L. Stewart Research Award. They hold an Ed.D. in Community College Leadership, M.A. in Post-Secondary Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, and a B.A. in Environmental Science and Spanish from Whittier College.
