Char Perlas

Dr. Char Perlas is Superintendent/President of College of the Siskiyous. She is a Filipina-American who was raised by immigrant parents who instilled in her the importance of a higher education. As a product of the California Community College system, her efforts have focused on creating the optimal learning environment for disproportionately impacted students. She holds a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Leadership in Higher Education, a Master of Public Administration, a Master of Science in Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Dr. Perlas brings over 25 years of professional experience in the California Community College system. In July 2019, she joined the College of the Siskiyous as the Vice President of Academic Affairs. In February 2021, she was appointed Interim Superintendent/President, and since July 2022, she has served as the permanent Superintendent/President. Dr. Perlas is the third female and the first Asian American to hold this role since the college’s inception in 1957.
