Christopher Cardona
Christopher Cardona is a hard-of-hearing instructor who credits education for shaping him into the person he is today. He believes in the power of education to change lives for the better.
Christopher graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Columbia College and in 2018, he founded C4 Communication ASL/Spanish Interpreting Service with the purpose of providing Southern California with effective communication through qualified interpreters in all places of public access. The pull of education was too powerful to ignore, so he went on to earn a B.A. in Spanish from Oregon State University, a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, and another M.A. in American History from American Public University. He also has earned several certificates and completed coursework in ASL and Teaching at Gallaudet University, Georgetown University, and Harvard University.
Christopher has presented for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, several State Chapters of the National Association of the Deaf, the Northwest Translators and Interpreters Society, and the Academic Senate of California Community Colleges. He has even shared his expertise with interpreters in Vietnam and Colombia. Primarily, he presents on the topic of Interpreting within the LGBTQ+ Community. He has co-authored and published an article on accessibility in the Senate Rostrum, an American Sign Language textbook, and is currently developing an Open Educational Resource on Deaf Culture. Christopher was also the first LGBTQ+ Designee at Palo Verde College and was named one of the “Top 80 OUTstanding Voices in Palm Springs” a few years ago. Currently, he is earning his third master’s degree in higher education administration, while working as an interpreter and instructor of ESL, ASL, and History at Imperial Valley College.
