Gil Perez (he/him) is a Tenure-Track Personal Counselor at College of San Mateo (CSM). As an out-queer faculty of color, he advocates for the safety, respect, care, and belonging of all LGBTQ+ members of the campus community. He coordinates the Mental Health Peer Educator Program and serves as the chapter advisor for Active Minds. Gil serves on the Title IX committee and provides confidential services to survivors of sexual violence. He previously served as the club advisor for the Safe Zone Alliance and a member of the Safe Zone Committee. He has specialized training as an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in human sexuality at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He was recently honored with the Impact Award for Mentorship at CSM’s inaugural Campus Life and Leadership Awards.
