Roam Romagnoli

Interim Dean of Language Arts and Academic Foundations

Dr. Roam Romagnoli (they/them) currently serves as Queer Resource Center Coordinator and Interim Dean of Language Arts and Academic Foundations at Santa Rosa Junior College.Before being hired to teach English full time at Santa Rosa Junior College in 2013, Dr. Roam worked for several years as a freeway flying adjunct in the Inland Empire. 

Dr. Roam has worked in many positions across California’s education and carceral systems. They started as a teacher-coach and researcher for San Bernardino Unified School District, where they were hired to focus on the crisis of disproportionate discipline in middle schools. This formative experience would later lead Dr. Roam to become founding faculty and co-coordinator of SRJC’s IGNITE program at Santa Rosa’s Jail and led to their dissertation study, “Decarcerating California: Expanding Incarcerated Students’ Access to Transfer Pathways.” 

Dr. Roam is a proud graduate of Riverside Community College and has spent their life working for transformative justice across systems of public education. They earned their doctorate in educational leadership and social justice from San Francisco State University (SFSU), and continues to teach courses in writing and research methods in SFSU’s Ed.D program.
