Find Your Grant Eligibility
Determine grant eligibility based on nursing workforce shortages.
The map below is provided in response to the Rebuilding Nursing Infrastructure (RNI) Grant Program Request for Applications (RFA) released on November 12, 2025. Under the RFA, the Chancellor’s Office will prioritize grant funding for applicants located in underserved nursing areas or regions experiencing a local nursing shortage as specified in California Education Code § 88772 (d) (1). The map is intended to assist applicants in determining whether they are located in one of these areas as designated by the California Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission. For ease of use, the map has been organized according to the Workforce and Economic Development (WEDD) regional structure.

Data Sources
This tool brings together data from the California Community Colleges, the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), and the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) workforce gap scores. HCAI’s 0–5 gap scores, based on hospital utilization levels, were converted into four shortage levels—Low, Medium, High, and Highest. Colleges in counties with Medium or higher need are eligible for priority RNI funding. Data reflects the most recent information available from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the BRN, and HCAI.
