Introducing California Connects Mobile Internet

Internet. Anytime. Anywhere.*

Inspired by the original digital literacy program, California Connects Mobile Internet aims to close the broadband gap in California and nationwide. California Connects includes a mobile hotspot that lets you stay connected to the internet in school, at home, and on the go. The new mobile hotspot service, powered by Sprint, offers nationwide 4G LTE connectivity and allows users to connect up to 10 WiFi enabled devices for up to 10 hours on a single charge, no contract required.

Users can get started for as low as $99.99 (plus shipping and handling) and pay $19.99 for every month thereafter with no throttling, suspension, or overage charges.*

* Enjoy 4G LTE connectivity on any WiFi-enabled device with California Connects. Initial cost of $99.99 (includes mobile hotspot device and first month subscription) and $19.99 every month thereafter. With 30 GB of data, students, faculty, and staff can stay connected to the internet in school and at home. Coverage and network availability varies by area. See for details. Price valid only for California residents.

The California Connects digital literacy program

California Connects was a three-year program that increased digital literacy and broadband access in underserved communities throughout the state by deploying community college Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program students and representatives from the Great Valley Center to teach members of the community how to access and navigate the Internet for educational, health, and economic purposes. Funded by a $10.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), California Connects was administered by the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
