Last month, our Equity team hosted seven regional Immigration Legal Services meetings across California, bringing together campus leaders, legal service providers, and community partners from across the state. These gatherings were coordinated to strengthen the network of support available to undocumented students and immigration impacted communities at California community colleges.

Across all seven regions, there was one recurring theme: the power of collaboration. Participants shared effective practices, worked through common challenges, and explored new opportunities to expand access to immigration legal services on their campuses. Conversations ranged from navigating shifts in immigration policy to identifying practical ways to better serve students with a wide range of needs.

The meetings also created space for honest dialogue. Participants leaned into complex questions around capacity, sustainability, and how to better meet the diverse needs of students. These conversations were not only necessary but energizing, reinforcing that we are not alone in this work and that collective problem-solving is one of our greatest strengths.

The connections formed and deepened through these regional gatherings will continue to support collaborative work. As we move forward, we do so with a stronger, more connected statewide network and a shared commitment to ensuring that undocumented students across California have equitable access to the immigration legal services they need to succeed.
