The Foundation’s LED Luminaries contracts were secured with the specific product and service needs of the California’s 116 Community Colleges in mind. A committee of facilities representatives from the Community Colleges was involved throughout the RFP and evaluation process. As of January 2016, CollegeBuys is able to adopt CSU and UC agreements, making them available systemwide, leading to expanded contract offerings and best value procurement options.
A Wide Breadth of Products and Services Available
Through partnerships with GonLED, WESCO, All-Phase, and Parker Lighting districts can secure a wide range of highperforming lighting products from over 70 manufacturers, allowing flexibility to procure products needed for specific lighting efficiency projects. Services include providing samples and cut sheets upon request, post-implementation training, and providing data to support district compliance with Proposition 39 and associated rebate incentives.
Total Cost of Ownership
Contracts emphasize the total cost of ownership approach, encompassing the needs of the Community Colleges prior to and following purchase. The contracts allow direct procurement of materials without any general condition markup by a contractor, and without the expense and time of going to bid. All products procured include freight costs and vendors will manage all freight claims. Certain products also qualify for the Buy America program, which allows districts to support workplace development in the United States.
Compliance with California Public Contract Code and Energy Efficiency Standards
All contracts adhere to California Public Contract Code requirements. Additionally, our partners GonLED, WESCO, All-Phase, and Parker Lighting provide products that are compliant with Proposition 39, which maximizes tax dollars. Our partners are also required to offer products that comply with the Energy Efficiency Standards outlined in Title 24, Part 6 of the California Energy Code, allowing districts to reduce energy costs.
