Expanding Access to Clean Mobility for Californians

Through strong partnerships and student leadership, our Environmental Equity team continues to advance clean mobility solutions that support healthier communities in California. A recent Clean Air Vehicles event, held in partnership with the Community Housing Development Corporation (CHDC), the Santa Barbara Air Pollution Control District (SBAPCD), and the Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP), demonstrated the growing impact of this work across the state.
At the center of these efforts is the California Community Colleges Clean Mobility Student Ambassador Program, which empowers students and recent alumni to raise awareness about clean vehicle incentives and expand access to sustainable transportation options. Through this program, student ambassadors connect directly with community members, helping them navigate programs like DCAP and encouraging participation in electric vehicle adoption.
During the event, FoundationCCC staff members partnered with Clean Mobility Student Ambassadors to lead a highly successful EV ride-and-drive experience. In addition to test drives, attendees received information about clean mobility incentives and access to free HEPA air filters distributed by SBAPCD, highlighting the connection between transportation choices and improved air quality.
This work directly supports the Chancellor’s Office Vision 2030 goals by expanding equitable access to education and career pathways while addressing critical climate challenges. By connecting students to hands-on learning and career exploration in clean mobility, FoundationCCC is helping build a workforce prepared to lead in the state’s evolving green economy.
