Foundation for California Community Colleges Releases 2024–25 Innovation and Impact Report

This year’s annual report spotlights $217M in impact, the early completion of the Double Impact Strategic Plan, and achievements across six key areas of focus

SACRAMENTO, CA —The Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC) has released its 2024–2025 Innovation and Impact Report, Centering Communities, spotlighting the role of California Community Colleges as anchor institutions that are trusted and deeply embedded in the lives of students, families, and regions across the state.

This year’s report outlines FoundationCCC’s progress in implementing its Double Impact Strategic Plan, including the early completion of several key goals that were originally targeted for 2027. In 2024, FoundationCCC mobilized $217 million in annual resources across six impact areas: Student Success, Workforce Development, Equity, Climate Action, Community Impact, and System Support. The report also highlights statewide partnerships that contributed to these results and describes how this work supports California community college students and the communities they serve.

Highlights from this year’s report include:

2024–2025 Annual Metrics:

  • $217M in resources deployed to support students, colleges, and communities statewide
  • 86% of every dollar invested directly into programs and services
  • $222M raised through donors, foundations, public partners, and corporations

Student Success:

  • 1.4 million+ students served by Program Pathways Mapper
  • 35,978 financial aid applications initiated 
  • 25 colleges participating in a statewide initiative to expand shortened courses and flexible learning models for working learners

Workforce Development:

  • $15.1M awarded by FoundationCCC to 72 innovative nonprofit organizations within the Breaking Barriers workforce system
  • 4,700+ students employed through our Career Catalyst program
  • 2,000+ CalFresh recipients served, including 1,400+ community college students

Equity:

  • 81 Student Ambassadors made over 209,000 student connections to vital resources such as CalFresh, California Low-Cost Auto Insurance, the Crisis Text Line, and free immigrant legal services
  •  4,251 current and former foster youth at 18 community colleges were provided life skills training, educational workshops, career development services, and network connections
  • $4.8 million in grants was awarded to 26 community colleges to develop a new profession, the Certified Wellness Coach

Climate Action:

  • $9M invested in zero-emission agricultural aviation through the SHIFT Aviation Project
  • 109 participants joined the inaugural Forestry Pathways Forum to build resilient careers
  • Inaugural C3CONVERGE Summit, hosted in partnership with the Chancellor’s Office,  brought together educators, industry, and students

Community Impact:

  • $6B in state-provided benefits delivered to Californians
  • $6.2M in clean vehicle vouchers distributed
  • 299,000+ individuals assisted through our statewide Call Center

System Support:

  • $10.9M+ awarded to students through the Finish Line Scholars Program and the California Community Colleges Scholarship Endowment, helping students persist in higher education
  • $830K in emergency aid distributed to students impacted by wildfires, extreme weather, and financial crises
  • $144M in savings delivered through Enterprise and Procurement Services
