High School Students Can Now See Their Path to College Before They Graduate

A recent update from the Program Pathways Mapper (PPM) is changing the way students make the connection between high school coursework and a college degree. Version 2.1.0 of PPM brings Dual Enrollment support to the platform, giving high school students a visual way of seeing how the courses they’re taking translate to college programs, degrees, and career goals.

When students use PPM to map out their courses, they will now find a dedicated Dual Enrollment experience. Students will be able to select their high school to view specific programs and details about opportunities available to them. Dual Enrollment courses are visually identified within program maps, so students can see how their current classes align with community college requirements. Students can see how college-level coursework completed through Dual Enrollment may apply toward Associate and Bachelor’s degree pathways and how it can be applied to transfer to a four-year university.

PPM updates include:

  • Dedicated Dual Enrollment Experience
  • Explore High School Pathways
  • Clearer Pathway and Course Mapping
  • Credit and Transfer Visibility
  • Better Counselor Alignment

This release addresses a longtime challenge for counselors. High school and college advisors have often relied on different sources of course information, leading to inconsistent guidance for students. PPM 2.1.0 gives high schools and college counselors a shared, reliable source for accurate course and program information, improving coordination across both sides of the pipeline.

Powered by the Chancellor’s Office, Kern Community College District, and FoundationCCC, PPM serves as a valuable resource for all students, helping them navigate their higher education journey, secure graduation, and plan for early career success.

This new update aligns with California’s most ambitious education goals, including the Guided Pathways framework and the Governor’s Roadmap for Success. It is one of five activities in the Vision 2030 Transfer Workplan, designed to reduce excess units, improve transparency, and ensure every student has a clear, faculty-vetted path forward.
