Impactful Regional Convenings to Support AANHPI Students

This spring, the CCC Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program (AANHPI SAP) made significant strides in supporting California community colleges through a three-part series of impactful regional convenings. These forums, held across multiple regions, brought together practitioners, college leaders, and community partners to advance equity and student success for AANHPI and underserved students.

The convenings served as a platform for 51 funded colleges to share promising practices, align efforts, and build a statewide community dedicated to AANHPI student achievement. Colleges showcased unique projects, such as the student leadership academies, new AANHPI centers, and mentorship programs, all created to foster belonging, leadership, and academic achievement.

Additionally, sessions included workshops on culturally responsive programming, sessions run by community experts (APAHE), data-driven decision-making, and innovative student support strategies. Colleges exchanged insights on overcoming challenges such as staffing shortages, data access, and funding compliance. The FoundationCCC AANHPI SAP Central Office team introduced new initiatives to support colleges in these areas, including expanded student ambassador programs and multilingual resources.

FoundationCCC serves as the program’s central hub, which provides greater flexibility to assist colleges in developing statewide partnerships, advocacy efforts, and services. The AANHPI SAP regional convenings reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing equity through collaboration, culturally responsive practices, and continuous partnership. The Central Office will continue to expand resources, connect colleges with experts, and share best practices to strengthen local programs. Together, we are building a more inclusive and supportive environment for AANHPI students across California.
