Research Analyst

Alex Karan (he/him) is a Research Analyst at Chabot College and co-chair of the Queer Educator’s Equity Network (QuEEN), where he helped found Chabot’s first Pride Center. In his research, he prioritizes equity for marginalized communities, often working toward understanding structural components that relate to and close equity gaps. Alex is passionate about using his skills to enact change locally, statewide, nationwide, and, hopefully, globally to allow everyone a fair chance at attaining their educational and career goals. Prior to his work at Chabot College, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California (UC) Los Angeles and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from UC Riverside. His psychological research centered on LGBTQ+ individuals and couples looking at coping, support, communication, and health behaviors. Alex is humbled at the opportunity to be a member of the CCC LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee.
