Antonio “Nío” Lavermon

Antonio “Nío’s” professional relationship with community advocacy began in health care, where he provided administrative and membership support for older adults, folx with disabilities, and lower-income communities. Then, Antonio began to work for The LGBTQ Center Long Beach, providing supportive services to the Transitional Age Youth (TAY) population through case management, group facilitation, cultural arts, educational workshops, and events programming. He has trained hundreds of students and service providers on LGBTQ cultural competency and various elements including allyship and intersectionality. Antonio’s work continues to center on amplifying the voices and experiences of the marginalized, including but not at all limited to: queer and trans persons, women, and people of color. As of December 2021, Nío has been working at Cerritos College as the LGBTQ+ Program Facilitator and Liaison, where he oversees the campus’s growing LGBTQ+ Program with a heightened emphasis on LGBTQ inclusion campus-wide and student success cultivation.
