Brian Caughell

With over 20 years of extensive experience in finance and operations, Caughell has a demonstrated history of success in leading highly complex, nonprofit, mission-driven organizations. 

Most recently, he served as Associate Vice President of Mission Finance and Operations at the Environmental Defense Fund, where, among his financial leadership responsibilities, he oversaw an annual budget exceeding $250 million with international scope. Prior to that role, Caughell led business management, budgeting, and finance operations as the Associate Vice President of Ecosystems. 

As the leader of our finance team, Caughell is known for building high-performing teams and driving mission-driven financial strategies. His expertise strongly aligns with our mission to support the California Community Colleges and our commitment to fiscal responsibility, prudence, and impact.

• Provides executive-level strategic leadership over accounting and finance at FoundationCCC
• Serves as a strategic business partner to our executive leadership team and business leads
• Connects financial budgets, forecasts, and results to programmatic business strategies, our organizational strategic plan, and mission-driven impact for our more than 70 programs and services

Brian holds a Master of Business Administration from St. Mary’s College of California, a Master of Arts in Political Management with an emphasis in issues management and corporate government affairs from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from San Diego State University.
