Christopher Howerton
Professor Christopher Howerton is a dedicated advocate and leader with over 20 years of experience in the California Community College system. He is currently a tenured professor of communication studies at Woodland Community College. Additionally, Christopher has been on the executive committee of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) for three years, where he currently leads the Educational Policy and Relations with the Local Senates’ Committees. With extensive experience within ASCCC, Christopher previously chaired the Faculty Leadership Development Committee and coordinated the Faculty Empowerment Leadership Academy. His commitment extends to promoting diversity and inclusion in leadership through ASCCC’s I.D.E.A.A. efforts.
Christopher’s educational background includes a B.A. in Theatre and Communication Arts, an M.A. in Communication Studies, and an Ed.S. in Higher Education and Adult Learning.
While not engaged in academic pursuits, Christopher finds joy in gardening, home projects, and spending quality time with his husband and two cats.
