Don Miller
Dr. Don Miller is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Rio Hondo College and past President of the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers. He oversees all aspects of Academic Affairs, focusing on student equity-focused strategic enrollment management, cross-institutional professional development, and shared governance collaboration. Committed to guiding the college post-pandemic, Dr. Miller aims to support students and employees alike, fostering success in their studies, work, and personal lives.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Instruction at College of Alameda (COA) and Interim President in 2020. At COA, he emphasized equity, success, and professional development for students and employees, alongside strategic planning, enrollment management, construction management, curriculum development, and accreditation processes. Earlier, Dr. Miller held roles as Interim Vice President of Academic Services, Dean of the Division of Arts, Letters, and Social Sciences, and Dean of Learning Communities at Las Positas College.
Dr. Miller’s diverse background includes chairing multicultural and multilingual departments at universities, including California State University, Chico. He spent two decades as an instructional faculty member, teaching various courses in Spanish programs and engaging in shared governance roles. His research and presentations focused on marginalized voices’ gender and sexuality in cultural contexts of the Spanish-speaking world.
