Don Moya-Miller


Dr. Don Moya-Miller (he/they/él/elle) currently serves as the Vice President/Assistant Superintendent of Academic Affairs at Rio Hondo College (RHC). He previously served as President of the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers (CCCCIO). Dr. Moya-Miller spent two decades as a college/university faculty member, teaching introductory and intermediate courses in a wide breadth of disciplines, including courses in language and cultures, to human and civil rights in the Spanish-speaking world, Latin American Studies, theater, and more to students from all parts of the globe. His publications and professional presentations have centered on gender identity and sexuality of marginalized voices, exploring how these identities are interpreted through culture, literature, art, and film in various historical contexts of the Spanish-speaking U.S., Latin America, Spain, and Equatorial Guinea.
After 20 years as a professor, Dr. Myoa-Miller joined community college administration, serving as a dean and then vice president at Las Positas College, College of Alameda, and currently at Rio Hondo College. They remain committed to fostering success for all students and college employees—both in their academic and professional journeys, as well as their personal lives—by working in partnership with campus leadership, constituency groups, and the broader community. Dr. Moya-Miller and their husband, Artemio, are the proud parents of four adult children.
