Ellen Cesaretti-Monroy

Ellen joined the Assembly Higher Education Committee as an associate consultant in 2020 right before the COVID – 19 pandemic. Since joining the Committee she has worked on an array of key pieces of legislation regarding the use of educational data in the State and course placement at the California Community Colleges. She was most recently the lead researcher on the Committee’s report on preventing sex discrimination on college campuses, “A Call to Action” and was the writer of 10 of the 12 bills in the “A Call to Action” bill package. Her portfolio for the Committee includes: Title IX, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, California Community Colleges, Dual Enrollment, and Student Basic Needs. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, East Bay and a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from California State University, Sacramento.
