Erin Marquez-Lawley

Fresh off her sabbatical – which allowed Erin to earn Associates of Arts degrees in LGBT Studies and Social Justice Studies: Feminist, Queer, and Transgender Studies from City College of San Francisco, and a Certificate of Achievement in LGBT Education for Health Care Professionals from Napa Valley College – Erin is now honored to take on this new role as a member of the California Community College LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee.

In addition to teaching Health and Kinesiology full time at Oxnard College, she is the Academic Senator (2019-current) for her departments as well as a member of the Curriculum Committee and Professional Development Committee (2023-current). She is also usually running between meetings or events that support our fabulously diverse and fascinating students. Erin is especially passionate about LGBTQIA+ and Rising Scholars populations so she will continue being a mentor to those in need.

Erin was hired at Oxnard College in August 2017 as the Head Softball Coach and Health and Kinesiology Professor. That was the beggining of her community college teaching and coaching career.

Previously she taught high school for eight years and coached high school, travel, and NCAA D2 softball for nine years total. She was also a sports reporter and Sunday columnist for the Napa Valley Register and freelance reporter for various Bay Area publications.
