Gayle Pitman

Gayle Pitman (she/her) is the Superintendent/President at Napa Valley College. She has more than 25 years of experience advancing social and economic mobility for students through education. Throughout her career, Gayle has advocated for LGBTQ+ students and employees, including developing and offering LGBTQ+ themed curriculum, establishing funding sources for LGBTQ+ programming and professional development, advocating for trans-inclusive and -affirming policies and practices, organizing community town halls focused on LGBTQ+ issues, and establishing LGBTQ+ student spaces.

Gayle participated in Cohort 10 of the Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship. She holds a Doctor of Philosphy and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Women’s Studies from Tufts University. In her alternative universe, Gayle is an award-winning author of eight books for children and teens, most of which educate young people about LGBTQ+ history.
