Gayle Pitman
Dr. Gayle Pitman (she/her/hers) is the Vice President of Institutional Equity, Effectiveness, and Success at Hartnell College. In this role, she oversees institutional research and planning, strategic initiatives, college-wide equity efforts, and accreditation. She has been a college and community advocate for LGBTQ+ communities for more than two decades. As a faculty member and as an administrator, Dr. Pitman has led numerous efforts to raise visibility, awareness, and support for LGBTQ+ students and employees. Her efforts include developing and offering LGBTQ+ themed curriculum, establishing funding sources for LGBTQ+ programming and professional development, advocating for trans-inclusive and -affirming policies and practices, and establishing LGBTQ+ student spaces. She has served on several nonprofit boards and volunteered with organizations serving the LGBTQ+ community in both Sacramento and the Salinas Valley. In her alternative universe, Dr. Pitman is an award-winning author of eight books for children and teens, most of which educate young people about LGBTQ+ history.
