Heather Johnson

Heather Johnson is a counseling faculty member at Irvine Valley College with over 11 years of experience supporting student success in California community colleges. She serves as the Pride Scholars Counselor, advocating for LGBTQ+ students and fostering inclusive campus communities. Her research focuses on the experiences of nonbinary students in higher education, with an emphasis on belonging, identity, and equitable support services. Heather is also a faculty leader committed to advancing student equity, social justice, and transformative educational practices. Beyond counseling, she is passionate about mentoring students, developing innovative programs, and creating pathways for historically marginalized communities to thrive.
