Jeffrey Clary


Jeffrey Clary is the Senior Director of Climate Strategies at FoundationCCC.
In this role, Clary guides FoundationCCC’s new climate-focused initiative, leveraging institutional strengths in workforce development and community impact to tackle climate challenges. He fosters partnerships across agencies, industries, tribal communities, and grassroots organizations, to address environmental justice, sustainability, and climate adaptation. Clary’s vast experience in creating impactful partnerships and programs is instrumental to this role.
FoundationCCC Highlights
- Establishing the Center for Climate Futures as a strategy and resource hub for colleges, agencies, businesses, and non-governmental organizations committed to climate action
- Organizing and leading statewide events that highlight the capacities of community colleges to serve public needs in sustainability, climate workforce, and community support, such as the Forestry Workforce Summit and other community college climate events
- Identifying ways that community colleges can help build climate resilient communities, and helping secure resources for those actions
Before joining FoundationCCC, Clary managed the UC Davis Natural Reserve System, a hub for global environmental researchers, with a focus on California’s natural landscapes and climate change. Additionally, he dedicated over five years as an adjunct professor at Cosumnes River College, teaching biology for future health, veterinary professionals, and biology majors. He also coordinated a graduate program in plant sciences for a Swiss university consortium, demonstrating his commitment to academic collaboration and advancement.
Clary earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas, Austin, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology from the University of California, Davis. He received a Fulbright scholarship for research in Spain and finished a postdoc in plant ecology at the University of Montpellier III, France.
