Jose Oseguera

Assistant Professor, Communication Studies

Jose Oseguera (he/him/his) is a proud first-generation Mexican American and queer educator, serving as a full-time Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Moreno Valley College. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Francisco State University and has been teaching communication courses since 2018. His classes center on inclusion, with a focus on LGBTQ+ experiences, non-normative relationships, and accessible, low or no-cost learning. He prioritizes empathy and flexibility to ensure all students feel supported.

Outside the classroom, he is a committed LGBTQ+ advocate. He co-chaired the college’s LGBTQ+ Pride Workgroup, co-advises the Genders and Sexualities Club, and helped launch the LGBTQ+ Canvas Hub—a digital resource space featuring educational content, event info, student support services, and community-building opportunities. He has also helped organize Lavender Graduation and led ally trainings for faculty and staff. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, watching documentaries, and spending time with his two French bulldogs, Benny and Ru.
