Kenny Simkins

LGBTQIA+ Student Success Coordinator

Kenny Simkins (he/him/they/them) serves as the LGBTQIA+ Student Success Coordinator at El Camino College, where he leads the Pride Center and develops programs, services, and initiatives that support LGBTQIA+ student success, belonging, and retention. A first-generation college graduate who returned to higher education as an adult student, Kenny is passionate about creating the resources and support systems he wishes had existed when he was a student.

He oversees signature programs including LGBTQIA+ History Month and Pride Week while building partnerships across campus and throughout the community to expand access to affirming services and support. Kenny also serves as Tri-Chair of El Camino College’s Student Success Committee and is an advocate for equity-centered practices that help all students thrive.

When he’s not advocating for students, Kenny can usually be found riding roller coasters, watching scary movies, or planning his next Madonna concert experience. Having seen Madonna live nine times, he proudly considers himself a lifelong fan (and her unpaid publicist). He lives in Long Beach with his husband, Cain, who is without question his favorite person on the planet.
