Mike Muñoz

President

Dr. Mike Muñoz is the Superintendent-President of Long Beach Community College District, and a nationally recognized transformational leader in higher education. He specializes in closing racial equity gaps for students of color, fostering inclusive campus cultures for LGBTQIA+ students, and driving transformational change.

Nationally, Dr. Muñoz has held leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the National Community Colleges Hispanic Council and as a founding Board Member of COLEGAS, the California Community Colleges Latinx professional association. Additionally, he was appointed by Lt. Governor Kounalakis to serve on the state’s ADT Intersegmental Implementation Committee.

Dr. Muñoz has extensive experience teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in counseling and higher education at California State University, Long Beach, the University of Southern California (USC), and California State University, Los Angeles. Currently, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Higher Education at the USC Rossier School of Education, focusing on leadership within community colleges. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Muñoz received the 2019 Outstanding Faculty Member awardfrom USC’s Rossier Student Organization and the 2018 Dr. Cynthia S. Johnson Award from CSULB for exceptional student mentoring.
