Nitasha Sawhney


Nitasha Sawhney brings a wealth of leadership experience and a strong commitment to the California Community Colleges to her role at FoundationCCC. She is currently an equity partner at Garcia Hernández Sawhney, LLP, where she specializes in education, labor, and employment law. With extensive experience serving as legal counsel to public school districts, community college districts, and other public institutions, Sawhney is well-versed in matters related to school governance and policy, labor negotiations, employment, educational foundations, public meetings, ethics laws, and strategic planning.
In addition to her legal work, Sawhney is an active board member of the Sikh Coalition, the largest Sikh civil rights organization in the country. She is also involved with various other national and local civil rights organizations, where she provides counsel on matters related to hate crimes, civic engagement, and employment discrimination. Sawhney’s diverse experience and commitment to social justice make her a valuable asset to FoundationCCC’s leadership team.
