Nitasha Kaur Sawhney is an equity partner at Garcia Hernández Sawhney, LLP and a trusted strategist and expert in education, labor, and employment law matters. She advises public and private-sector clients on complex governance, labor relations, employment compliance, and crisis matters, frequently serving as outside general counsel to public school districts, community college districts, and other public institutions.

Recognized for her strategic and thoughtful approach, Sawhney works closely with superintendents, administrators, and elected boards on a wide range of labor matters, including organizational strategy, governance, and risk management. She regularly serves as chief negotiator and counsels employers on negotiation strategies designed to resolve disputes efficiently and foster productive, collaborative outcomes.

In addition to her legal work, Sawhney is an active board member of the Sikh Coalition, the largest Sikh civil rights organization in the country, and previously served as a commissioner for the Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs. She is also involved with various other national and local civil rights organizations, where she provides counsel on matters related to hate crimes, civic engagement, and employment discrimination. 

Sawhney earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis, and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. She also holds Associate of Arts degrees from Orange Coast Community College and Irvine Valley College, where she served as Student Trustee on the Board of the South Orange County Community College District.
