Supporting Latine/x Student Success through Collaboration

FoundationCCC staff members recently participated in the California Community Colleges Organización de Latinx Empowerment, Guidance, Advocacy for Success (COLEGAS) Annual Conference, held in Sacramento.
This year’s theme, “Collective Resistance: Justicia y Liberación,” provided a space for collaboration and inspiration for leaders from the California Community College system.
The three-day conference brought together educators, advocates, and leaders dedicated to advancing justice, equity, and liberation in higher education for Latine/x students.
Breakout sessions explored topics such as teaching students in a culturally new era, the power of the student voice, and strengthening dual enrollment pathways to better support Latine/x students. These sessions underscored a shared commitment to transforming educational systems to foster equity and success for students across the state.
“This gathering was a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of our comunidad Latina in higher education. Together, we explored new strategies for advancing equity, empowering students, and fostering liberation, while strengthening connections across faculty, administrators, and community partners dedicated to creating lasting change.”
— Alonso Garcia, Sr. Manager Equity, FoundationCCC
FoundationCCC was a Bronze Sponsor at this year’s COLEGAS conference, reinforcing its commitment to equity-driven initiatives. The sponsorship supports COLEGAS’ mission to elevate authentic Latine/x leadership and create meaningful change and advance equity for Latine/x professionals and students.
