Empowering Incarceration-Impacted Students: The Educating for Change Scholarship

The Educating for Change Scholarship provides crucial financial support to California community college students with a parent incarcerated in a prison administered by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), helping break the intergenerational cycle of incarceration through access to higher education.
Since its inception, the scholarship has helped students across California pursue their educational goals, including 18 recipients this past year. Students share their inspiring success stories of how this support has transformed their lives.

Supporting Justice-Impacted Students
The Educating for Change Scholarship is more than just financial aid; it’s an opportunity to support students striving for a better future, despite the challenges posed by having an incarcerated parent. Over the past academic year, the scholarship has disbursed $18,000 to support students in their educational journeys.
FoundationCCC is actively fundraising to grow the fund, as increased interest shows the need for more financial support for students whose lives have been impacted by incarceration. Administered by FoundationCCC, this scholarship not only offers tangible financial support but also symbolizes a belief in the inherent potential of every individual.
