Better employment and economic independence for Californians.
Fresh Success helps community colleges and community-based organizations and adult education centers start and manage CalFresh Employment and Training programs. Through Fresh Success, CalFresh participants gain education and training that will lead to better employment and a path to economic self-sufficiency. By connecting counties with colleges and nonprofits that offer employment and training services, federal funding is increased and innovative, job-oriented approaches are possible.
Program Services
A fresh approach to employment and training.
The Fresh Success program prepares CalFresh participants for better employment and economic independence through classes and training programs offered at community colleges, community-based organizations, and adult education centers.
Students receive supportive services including career counseling, interview training, job search, placement, and retention assistance, educational plans, academic monitoring, tutoring, and case management. Transportation assistance, textbooks, supplies, and other wraparound supports such as emergency housing, internet access, etc. are also provided to reduce financial barriers.

How to Get Involved
Toolkits, templates, training, and technical support are provided by FoundationCCC to make the start-up process easier.
- Community-based organizations, adult education programs, and community colleges can start a Fresh Success program. See below for an assessment tool to gauge your organization’s eligibility to become a Fresh Success provider.
- County welfare departments can partner with Fresh Success to expand CalFresh E&T services.
- Funders can support program growth, technical assistance, and evaluation. Complete an interest form to be contacted by Fresh Success staff.
