Recognizing the Power of Peer-to-Peer Outreach
On June 13, FoundationCCC hosted the California Community College Student Ambassador Showcase—an inspiring virtual event honoring the passion, commitment, and achievements of student ambassadors from across the state. Since 2018, student ambassadors have reached over 1.5 million California community college students through peer-to-peer outreach, campus engagement, and student-led advocacy.
During the celebration, attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from student ambassadors as they reflected on their peer-to-peer outreach efforts. Through personal stories, they shared how the program shaped their leadership journeys and deepened their connection to their campus communities. Each student brought their own unique voice and perspective, illustrating the powerful impact of student-led advocacy.
“I have noticed the impact of the resources that are offered and that we promote. I am glad that I can share them with students and peers like myself, who are from underserved and marginalized groups, especially incarcerated students. It’s actually created a positive sense of community and obviously reduces the stigma of basic needs. Just knowing that these resources are available and lessons the barriers that we face every day.” — Saengamphay (Melinda) P., Student Ambassador, Palomar College
This year’s showcase also recognized Tri Counties Bank as the 2024–2025 Student Ambassador Program Funder of the Year. Their generous support has helped expand the program’s reach and deepen its impact, empowering more students to become advocates and leaders on their campuses and in their communities.
The Student Ambassador Program empowers community college students to serve as trusted on-campus advocates by raising awareness among their peers about essential student support services. In collaboration with participating colleges, FoundationCCC provides ambassadors with training on key resources such as CalFresh and the Crisis Text Line. Through this experience, students build valuable skills in public speaking, community engagement, systems navigation, and outreach.
Thank you to all the outstanding student ambassadors throughout the state and congratulations on your end-of-the-year celebration!
