Turning Ideas into Action for a Resilient California

In March, the Resilient Landscapes Network hosted ReadyED 2026 at Mt. San Antonio College, bringing together California’s resilience educators, workforce leaders, and students for a dynamic statewide gathering. Designed as a hub for coordination, innovation, and skill-building, the event provided tools, partnerships, and strategies to address urgent wildfire and landscape challenges both in the classroom and in the field.

Attendees engaged in hands-on, field-based learning and collaborative problem-solving focused on California’s diverse ecological and social landscapes. The convening highlighted applied science, workforce preparation, and innovative approaches to environmental education, equipping educators to lead, teach, and inspire the next generation of resilience professionals. Students also had the opportunity to connect with peers and industry leaders, building networks and exploring career pathways in resilience and landscape management.

ReadyED 2026 featured:

  • Student leadership and professional development activities
  • Peer-led innovation workshops to foster creative problem-solving
  • Intersegmental collaboration among educators, workforce leaders, and community partners
  • Connections to critical resources, programs, and opportunities to advance local and statewide impact

Throughout the event, participants explored ways to translate ideas into actionable solutions, strengthening both classroom instruction and community-focused projects. By combining hands-on experiences with strategic collaboration, ReadyED 2026 reinforced the network’s mission to prepare California’s educators and students to respond to ecological and workforce challenges with skill, innovation, and resilience.

The gathering emphasized that ReadyED means being ready to educate, and educating to be ready, ready to serve communities, ready to tackle challenges, and ready to shape a more resilient future across California’s landscapes.

Supported by FoundationCCC’s Center for Climate Futures, the Resilient Landscapes Network meets through a dynamic series of webinars designed to spotlight practical tools, elevate peer learning, and address real-world challenges in resilience education—from course design and industry alignment to student success and intersegmental collaboration.
