The Rule of Law and the American Dream

California LAW Pathways (Cal LAW) hosted its annual Law Day event on May 1. The virtual event, “The Rule of Law and the American Dream,” emphasized that no one is above the law and that the rule of law protects people’s freedoms and their ability to pursue their dreams.
The event was attended by educators and students from high schools, community colleges, four-year institutions, and law schools across the state.
This year’s program featured a fireside chat moderated by UCLA School of Law Dean Michael Waterstone with Legal Director, ACLU of Northern California Shilpi Agarwal, offering an engaging and conversational discussion with legal leaders. Attendees enjoyed conversation examining how leaders and legal professionals think, strategize, and respond to evolving societal issues.
Founded by the American Bar Association, Law Day is held annually on May 1 as a national day to celebrate the Rule of Law. Law Day provides an opportunity to understand how law and legal processes protect our liberty, strive to achieve justice, and contribute to the freedoms that all Americans share.
Cal LAW is a FoundationCCC Collaborative Impact Partner which aims to establish a pathway of diverse students from high schools, community colleges, four-year institutions, and law schools into law and law-related careers so that the legal profession and our justice system reflect the diverse population of California.
